ComTac is a small little sound adjusting tool that we developed a couple of years ago when PUBG: Player Unknowns Battlegrounds was the most popular BR game. There was an issue with the game making the red zone volume really loud so we began developing this tool to automatically lower the volume in Windows if the Game Sound got above a certain threshold.
CT is developed in C# and utilizes the CSCore library to get and set the volume in Windows. It is possible to do this without any external libraries but it would take a lot longer to develop since figuring out Windows API endpoints is very time-consuming.
The Game picker is used to get the name of the game (like game.exe). It won’t hook into your game so it won’t trigger any anti-cheats and I don’t think it should classify as a cheat.
It is very easy to set up, just follow these steps:
- Set application by finding your application or game executable
- Set for how long the application should wait before checking volume again?
- Set trigger volume (0-100%)
- Set lower volume to (0-100%)
- Set return to the last known volume after x ms
Please note that some of you may have the trigger volume on 5-10% and some of you on 80-90% it all depends on your setup. The easiest way to tune it is to run it on your browser and experiment with the parameters while listening to something on YouTube (like a Escape From Tarkov video or something similar).
